This is day 1 and camp 1 of hiking the Tombstone circuit. Enter into a world of tundra, jagged mountains and alpine lake. This is one of the most sought after hikes in all of the Yukon for a reason. It's regulated by permits so it requires planning ahead of time (Permits normally drop in January). You'll hike up, around and down into the valley to camp and Grizzly Lake. These mountain will certainly give you the feeling of "where did I just teleport myself into because this doesn't feel real" kind of vibe - and it only gets better from here. The "typical" way people do this circuit is camp at Grizzly, Divide, Talus, Grizzly and out but I highly suggest giving yourself a layover day at Talus or Divide to really appreciate the just how unique this area is.

Trailhead - Grizzly Lake Total Distance: 11 km Return Time: 6 hours **Elevation Gain: **797 m

You can also do a side hike to Twin Lakes from Grizzly Lake which I have never done because my legs are dead but I think if you don't have time to do the whole circuit you could spend two nights at Grizzly and do the Twin Lakes hike.

-Permits are required + check in before you start your hike, instructions here- https://yukon.goingtocamp.com/TombstoneTerritorialPark -Bear cannister + bearspray is required -Must camp on tent pads -Season - End of June to Early September (end of August for peak fall colors) -Stay ON trails! The tundra is extremely delicate and stepping of the trails with damage the ground. Since this is such a high traffic area it's really important that you stay on trails to preserve the area for future generations to come -Cook shelter and outhouse at each camp -No cell service
