This is the dramatic, splendid isolation you came to find in Lofoten!

Amazingly, toward the end of June, we got pretty lucky and almost had this entire beach to ourselves.

Why? Because it had just finished raining and the day was pretty gray, but we capitalized on a break in the weather and struck out to find some adventure.

The 5.5 mile, out-and back trail, actually isn't as tough as it looks. If you're lucky enough to find parking in the Torsfjord lot, the trail just goes up and over the Ridgeline and then quickly drops down to the golden sand below.

The beach here is so enormous and expansive that even if you find other hikers there, it will still feel like you're the only person on Earth.

You can combine this hike with the climb up to Ryten, for a clifftop view of the beach, although unfortunately we had to skip out on the climb, since more weather was rolling in.

Bring lots of water, rain jackets, layers, and if you don't find a parking spot in the Torsfjord lot, you can also park in the paid lot by the school back in Fredvang.
