Message from Francesco Meola

Quartiere Coppedè is a whimsically designed quarter of Rome hiding in the Trieste district. Created by Florentine architect Gino Coppedè in the early 1900s, this area is filled with fantastic structures and extraordinary detailing: from Ancient Greek to Mannerist-style arches, Baroque Roman palaces, and mosaicked walls.

This architectural fantasyland has been used as a set for movies and tv series.

Head to Piazza Mincio, the heart of the area, where one can view the curious Fontana delle Rane (Fountain of Frogs), made famous by The Beatles who famously dunked themselves in it after a concert in Rome. In this square you can spot the Villa of the fairies, the Palace of the Spider and the Palace of the Ambassadors.

The best way to enter the area is from Via Tagliamento, head down to Via Dora, so you can spot the Arch of the Palace of the Ambassadors with its iconic chandelier, which like marks the entrance to this area.

Coppedé Quarter is perfect for those seeking something uncommon to visit in Rome, or for those that have been several times to this city and want to see something new and interesting.
