No trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to one of its most iconic landmarks, St Peter's Basilica. Whilst officially located in Vatican City, St Peter's Basilica is a must-see.

People from all over the world come to visit this incredible Basilica, and as many other touristy places in Rome, it gets super crowded. If you want to visit the inside of the Basilica it's completely free, however you'll likely have to queue for a long time, it could be 1 or 2 hours.

When I wanted to visit, I went around 10 am and had to wait until 11:30 just to go inside. My only advice would be go as early as possible, if you don't want to waste all those hours waiting.

The inside of the Basilica is incredibly stunning, honestly no words could describe the feeling of visiting St Peter's for the first time. It's way bigger than you would expect, and every single detail is beautifully decorated.

I'd recommend to visit the Dome, so you can get the best view over Rome. To visit the Dome you'll have to do the queue for the Cathedral and then once you arrive at the Basilica, another queue to purchase the ticket. Definitely take the ticket with the elevator, which costs €10. It will save you a lot of useless steps. There are over 550 steps to do to reach the top if you buy the €8 stairs ticket. With the elevator you'll have "only" 320 steps (I was exhausted when I reached the top ahah, but the view was rewarding).
