The Klondike Trail stretches for 3km and follows an old cart path used historically by residents traveling from Elliston to Bonavista. Start your walk by checking out the renowned root cellars in Elliston, celebrated as the root cellar capital of the world, where you can see how locals have ingeniously stored food for centuries.

The trail itself takes you through a dense fir forest, offering a refreshing walk under the tree cover. As you continue, you'll pass through marshy areas where you can spot Newfoundland's provincial flower, the pitcher plant.

Around the 2km mark, the landscape opens into expansive barrens, leading you towards a stunning coastal scene by Spillars Cove between the 2.5km and 3km points. Here, the trail really shines with views of dramatic sea stacks and, if you're lucky, you might even see puffins. Elliston is known for some of the best puffin watching from land in North America, making this trail a fantastic spot for wildlife.
