Bab Boujloud is one of the most iconic sights in the old city of Fes, Morocco, serving as the grand entrance. The original gate dates from the 12th century, though the current structure was built by the French administration in 1913. Its ornate triple-arched façade incorporates Moorish styles and is designed to dazzle, with its two sides covered in intricate tilework in a polychrome of rich blues and greens. People passing through the gate can take in the delightful silhouettes of two charming minarets – the Bou Inania Madrasa and the Sidi Lazzaz Mosque – as well as restaurants and shops ringing the small square beyond it. Whether you have been to Fez before or not, Bab Boujloud is the perfect gateway into this magical city's history and culture!
