A challenging yet rewarding 3.6km hike up Mount Amos in Freycinet National Park. Allow at least 3 hours return for this one, as although it’s not short it certainly is tough as you will need to scramble up boulders and crab walk along polished granite boulders to make it to the summit. This is one of our favourite hikes we have completed in Australia, so if you’re up for the challenge we highly recommend it!

If you’re a confident hiker we highly recommend setting your alarm early and making it up to the summit for sunrise. Make sure you only walk on a fine weather day when there has been no recent rain, the track crosses very steep and slippery rock slabs which are dangerous when wet.

The view from the top is honestly one of the most stunning we have seen in Australia. Panoramic views over Freycinet Peninsula, Wineglass Bay and Cole’s Bay are the perfect reward after a somewhat grueling ascent to the top.
