Takarazuka Shrine is a popular tourist attraction located in the town of Takarazuka, 20km northwest of Osaka in Kansai region. As one of Japan's largest and most iconic theatres, it has been the home of the all-female Takarazuka Revue since 1924. Hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to the theatre every year to enjoy the stage shows, closely followed by an almost exclusively female audience who have become devoted fans of the troupe’s stars. The theatre is adjacent to the Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum, a colourful celebration of the famous local manga artist Tezuka Osamu, whose works, including Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion, movies and animations have delighted generations. Takarazuka is an unforgettable place to experience a unique blend of western theatre and Japanese culture, with its thousand-strong cast of performers presenting extravagant musical productions and classic stories from both East and West.
