Message from Francesco Meola

Whenever a friend or family member comes to visit me in Milan, this is the place I have to bring them to. It's one of the weirdest place you can expect to find in Milan and you have to know it's there, the Santuario di San Bernardino alle Ossa.

It's located only a few minutes from Duomo, so pretty close to many other sights.

In the ossuary chapel you can find numerous human skulls and bones adorning the walls and vaults. The origin of the skulls and bones is unknown, one of the likely options is that they belonged to people who died during the Plague.

I find it a fascinating place to visit and one I recommend to anyone visiting Milan.
