The World's Tallest Totem Pole is located on Alert Bay. Standing at 52m, the wooden pole features depictions of several different Kwakwaka’wakw groups, rather than representing a single family.
Each carved figure has an important meaning - the bear holding a salmon, for example, symbolises the group's pride in the land.
