Wat Ban Rai is an incredible display of modern art set in the middle of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Originally built by the revered monk Luang Phor Khun in 2013 as a donation funded project, the vibrant and surrealist temple draws art inspiration from similar modern temples across Thailand. The exterior of the structure is teeming with colorful detail and creative sculptures, while the interior of the building features gigantic glowing eyeballs, cylindrical nets resembling cocoons and bright mosaic artwork covering the walls. With views of the lake full of multi-headed naga serpents from the rooftop, Wat Ban Rai is a must-see for anyone visiting the Isaan region and looking for a unique way to experience Buddhist culture.
