Levada do Alecrim is the ideal destination for anyone looking to explore and get some great views in Madeira. With an average of 2 hours to complete the 4.4 mile out-and-back route, you'll feel like you've been transported to a tropical paradise. The trail can be enjoyed by all levels and ages. It takes you through dense vegetation as well as moments of beautiful visibility with pleasant waterfalls and dense forest. Dona Beja Lagoon is the reward at the end of the hike and offers a truly special swimming opportunity. Even if you don't want to take the plunge, it's worth visiting the breathtaking lagoon.

If you want to expand your adventure and walk not only along the flat surface of the Levada but also are ready to go down a few steps to Lagoa do Vento, try an alternative route (PR6.2+PR6.3) that includes another big waterfall, the larger Lagoa do Vento, and a stunning view of the Rabaçal valley from the very top of Risco waterfall.

Enjoy your hike! And remember: Hiking is the best physical exercise in the world. 💪🏻
