Before we start our little informative speech, we have to say that this museum is super underrated. Its a very, very beautiful location with super breathtaking beauty.

The National Tile Museum, also known as the Museu Nacional do Azulejo, is a museum located in Lisbon, Portugal, dedicated to the history and art of azulejo tile. Azulejo is a traditional Portuguese tile that is widely used in the country's architecture and decorative arts. The museum is housed in a 16th-century former Convent of Madre de Deus and features a collection of over 20,000 azulejo tiles from the 15th to the 20th century.

The museum's collection includes some of the most important examples of azulejo tile art, including tiles from the medieval period and the Golden Age of Portugal, as well as more contemporary pieces. Visitors can admire azulejo tile panels that depict scenes from Portuguese history and mythology, as well as religious and secular themes.

The museum's highlight is the "Panels of the Convent", a series of azulejo tile panels that depict scenes from the life of the Convent of Madre de Deus. These panels are considered to be the most significant and complete example of azulejo tile art from the 16th century.

The National Tile Museum also features temporary exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and guided tours that provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the history and art of azulejo tiles.

Overall, the National Tile Museum is a must-see destination for anyone interested in the history, art and culture of Portugal. It is an opportunity to admire the beauty and craftsmanship of the azulejos and to learn about the role they play in the country's history and culture.
