Lake Derborence, nestled in the Lizerne valley near Ardon, was formed by massive landslides in the 18th century. Initially considered cursed, this picturesque lake is now a nature reserve that attracts nature enthusiasts. It's a must-visit spot for those seeking pristine beauty in the Swiss Alps.

The road to get there opens in May and closes in November (check the opening dates here)

The hike starts at the parking lot near Lake de Derborence. There`s also a bus stop if you`re coming by public transportation. Either you walk to the left to get to the lake first or you make the route so that the lake is the end point. If you are there with younger kids or members of your family that are not keen on such a hike you may want to do the 1.3km hike around the lake.
