Gandria is a small, picturesque village nestled at the foot of Monte Bré in the canton of Ticino on the shores of Lake Lugano. This tranquil Swiss hamlet has been unchanged for nearly a century, making it the perfect destination for travelers looking to get away from it all and experience some of nature's finest offerings. The old customs house, known as the Cantine, and border sentry barracks now house the Swiss Customs and Smuggler Museum that tells the story of an area once packed with smugglers and traveling merchants. There are also several historic buildings like the chapel in San Rocco, built in 1645, as well as cobblestone streets, angular lanes, and steep staircases that have all been preserved.
