3 Days in Copenhagen

What you’ll do

If it's your first time in Copenhagen and you want to make the most of it, here are my suggestions! I always say Copenhagen is really about the "vibes" and less about the attractions... but there are tons of things to see and do!

In this guide, I've included my favorite attractions, activities, and restaurants that I think are really worth a visit. I would suggest keeping your days flexible so you can stop and enjoy the "hygge" as you go. However, I would recommend making reservations for your meals whenever possible, especially if you are visiting on a weekend.

If you have any questions about this itinerary, feel free to message me!!

Welcome to Copenhagen!! Today we're exploring some of the city center, aka "Indre By." Start at Nyhavn, the iconic colorful canal you've probably seen in pictures. In fact, go ahead and take your pictures (this is also why I'd suggest going early in the day; fewer people there!). To eat, I'd suggest brunch at the Union Kitchen (you may want to book in advance) or keep it simple with a pastry from Buka.

Walk down Gothersgade towards Kongens Have, the King's Garden. This beautiful park really comes alive in the summer, but it's worth a visit at all times of year. I highly recommend visiting Rosenborg Castle (which is located in the gardens), especially the Treasury, where the crown jewels are kept!

Now it's probably time for lunch. There are plenty of options nearby. I suggest a light lunch to save room for dinner! Torvehallerne is an indoor food market with lots of easy lunch options. Alternatively, grab a hot dog from DØP or one of the other hot dog vendors in this area. And I am serious -- you do need to try the hot dogs while you're here!!

For the afternoon, head towards Købmagergade, one of Copenhagen's main pedestrian shopping streets, to explore. Stop at the Round Tower (Rundetaarn) to get a gorgeous view of the city! Then wander around the city center to check out all the shops and admire the charming old architecture! You can't miss Strøget, one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe. If you want to take a coffee or pastry break, stop by Illum and go to the Original Coffee on the rooftop, or La Glace for some of their famous cakes!

When you're done exploring and shopping, it's time for dinner. Let's do something fun!! If the weather is nice, head to Broens Street Food, across the bridge from Nyhavn. There are lots of food stalls there and you can sit by the water and enjoy the view and vibes! If you'd rather have a sit down meal indoors (or Broens is closed), Bazaar and Llama have great food and atmospheres. Make sure to book a table if you're going to one of those.
