Located in beautiful Quito, Ecuador is the stunning sculpture of the Virgin of El Panecillo. Situated atop El Panecillo, a bread-shaped hill, it serves as a breathtaking backdrop to the historic center of Quito. Created by Spanish sculptor Agustín de la Herrán Matorras, the Virgin of El Panecillo is one of the largest aluminum statues in the world and stands at an impressive 135 feet tall. The masterpiece shows off 7,400 pieces of aluminum that were numbered and then painstakingly assembled by the sculptor. Today it remains an iconic symbol of the city, loved by locals and tourists alike - a marvel of design both from afar as well as up close!
