The Buddha Dordenma statue, located in Bhutan, is a massive Shakyamuni Buddha statue standing at 54 meters tall. It was built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the fourth king of Bhutan and houses over 100,000 smaller bronze Buddhas. Construction began in 2006 and was completed in September 2015, making it one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. The project cost over $100 million and was sponsored by Rinchen Peter Teo, a Singaporean businessman. The statue overlooks Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, and is said to bring peace and prosperity to the world.
