Akihabara, sometimes known as Akiba after a former local shrine, is an exciting district in Tokyo which is renowned for its electronics shops and for being the center of Japan's otaku culture. On Sundays, Chuo Dori offers many activities such as walking around to take pictures of the architecture or singing karaoke with friends. There are many electronics stores, ranging from one-man stalls to large retailers selling everything from the newest technology to second-hand goods. Otaku goods such as anime and manga are also found throughout Akihabara, as well as quirky dining experiences such as maid cafes! Don Quijote has a large branch in Akihabara and often offers performances by the pop group AKB48. There is something for everyone to enjoy in Akihabara!
