Signal Hill is a renowned flat-top hill located in Cape Town, between Lion's Head and Table Mountain, it's a great but very crowded spot for sunset (make sure to arrive 45 minutes before sunset to get a place to park). It was originally known as "The Lions Flank", but currently goes by the name of Signal Hill. Together with Lion's Head, these two hills form the iconic lion sphinx seen from every corner of the area's skyline. The hill is historically notable for its signaling practices using flags to notify ships in the bay of weather warnings and instructions on anchoring for protection during storms. It is also home to a daily noon gun, which signals precisely when it is 1pm Cape Mean Time, along with several tombs or kramats for Muslim religious leaders. Furthermore, Signal Hill offers stunning views of the Cape Town city centre and its Atlantic Seaboard, making it the ideal spot for tourists and locals alike.
