Äkäslompolo is a cozy village nestled in Lapland, next to a picturesque lake. With a population of only 587, it's a super tiny village with mostly tourists visiting. In winter, it's a hub for skiing with 330 km of cross-country tracks and 61 Alpine slopes.
The lake is the heart of Äkäslompolo. In wintertime, when the lake is frozen, it's crowded with cross-country skiers, fatbikers and hikers. And after dark, it can still be a busy place with people that are trying to spot the northern lights. Because of it's open space, it's the best place to be on te lookout and take pictures.
