Woody Bay in North Devon is a hidden gem nestled along the rugged Exmoor Coast. This secluded cove boasts picturesque wooded cliffs and rocky shores, making it a perfect spot to get away from the crowds.
The path down is steep and quite long, you have to park at the top of the hill, so it will be challenging for some. The best thing about this bay apart from the waterfall, is the tidal pool, which is a gem along the coast.
And if you’re interested in a bit of history about this area, Woody Bay had big plans to be a grand resort, with plans for a pier and a cliff railway. The pier was damaged by storms in 1902, and unfortunately, entrepreneur Benjamin Lake never saw his grand plans come to fruition. Instead he ended up bankrupt and imprisoned for embezzlement.
