Explore the stunning scenery of the Central North Island in New Zealand with the Mangakino Suspension Bridge, part of the Waikato River Trails. Sitting an impressive 42 metres above the Mangakino Stream below, this 80-metre-long bridge is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in all of Aotearoa. When visiting, take a short ride 4.7km from the lakefront to reach the bridge and marvel at the views along Lake Maraetai from high above. Situated on the Maraetai section of the Waikato River Trails (12.1km), this bridge is the lowest hanging bridge in the entire trail system, making it perfect for younger riders or those with a fear of heights. Perfect for a day trip or as a stop on an epic journey from Atiamuri to the southern end of Lake Karapiro, Mangakino's Suspension Bridge provides easy access and thrilling rides for cyclists of all levels.
