The Cromwell Heritage Precinct is an exciting destination for tourists to explore and learn about New Zealand’s interesting past. Situated on the shores of Lake Dunstan, this unique heritage attraction offers visitors a chance to wander through original and reconstructed buildings from the former gold town of Cromwell which dates back to 1860. Visitors can explore the old bakehouse and mud brick cottage, browse art galleries, and enjoy coffee at cafes overlooking the lake. The Central Otago Farmers & Craft Market is held on Sundays between Labour Weekend and early March. This seasonal market offers a variety of fresh local produce including famous stone fruits, cheese, olive oil, saffron, lamb, flowers and more. A Wine & Food Festival is also held each January celebrating wines from the Cromwell Basin.
