The Waterlily Gardens near Waihi are an enchanting place to explore. Developed in the 1940s by retired farmers Tom and Mabel Gordo, this gorgeous destination celebrates 60 years of opening to the public. Providing a plethora of sights and sounds, visitors can wander through hardy water lilies in the lake and ponds, lush trees, native forest walks, and formal lawns. Take in the sculptures, ornamental cherry trees, casually arranged ponds, cascading water, and giant flora. With plenty of places to sit and relax, take in the expansive two-acre lake overlooked by its weeping willow. Waterlily Gardens offer a truly magical experience perfect for those looking for a tranquil escape.
