Another spot you might find the Fiordland penguin in season

Lake Moeraki is a spectacular lake located in the heart of New Zealand's South Island. Just off State Highway Six, this tranquil and picturesque lake is surrounded by native vegetation and rests within Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Site. Visitors are mesmerised by its clear waters and diverse wildlife. In particular, visitors of Lake Moeraki must watch out for both Fiordland crested penguins and Southern elephant seals, which present rare sightings on New Zealand's coasts. This beautiful landscape is even further enhanced by the Hector’s Dolphins that sometimes swim alongside the shoreline. Those visiting Lake Moeraki are guaranteed to leave feeling relaxed yet energised from such a captivating experience.
