Skunk Harbor Trailhead is a hidden gem in North Lake Tahoe, accessible only by a 1.6-mile hike or bike ride along an old road with historical significance. The trail winds through a beautiful forest with views of Lake Tahoe and leads to a secluded cove and beach. Perfect for sunbathing and swimming, this spot offers a peaceful escape from the crowds. Remember to bring your own supplies as there are no facilities on site. Dogs are welcome off-leash, making it a great spot for a family adventure or a peaceful stroll with your furry friend. Just be prepared for the uphill climb on the way back! Skunk Harbor is located on Highway 28 about two miles north of Highway 50. Parking is limited to the turnouts along the road, and the trail head is marked by a green pipe gate on the west side of the highway.
