Drei Weieren, also known as Three Ponds, is a peaceful oasis nestled just above the city of St. Gallen. Originally built by a monastery for their water needs, these ponds offer a welcome escape to everyone who's looking for some relaxing moments in or by the water.

The three ponds are named Manneweier (men's pond), Buebeweier (boys' pond) and Frauenweier (women's pond).

The Mannenweiher is a public outdoor swimming area with free entry and no access restrictions, making it a popular summer destination for parties and night owls. It features a changing house with a swimming area, a 3-meter diving board, a 50-meter swim lane with starting blocks, a grandstand, a water polo field, additional changing facilities, and various amenities like a picnic area and a volleyball court.

The Buebenweiher is unsuitable for swimming due to abundant water plants but it's a lovely place to take some pictures of with its little chapel.

The Frauenweiher is a public swimming area with well-maintained facilities. Unlike the Mannenweiher, it requires an entry fee, which contributes to its more regulated environment. The area is popular with families and those seeking a quieter swimming experience. It features a dedicated swimming zone, grassy areas for sunbathing, and shaded spots under trees, making it ideal for relaxation.

Seraina's Tip: Walking up to Drei Weieren from St. Gallen takes around 15 minutes. You get rewarded by stunning views over the city and all the way to Lake Constance and Germany.
