The Lavaux Wine Terraces are a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site located along the shores of Lake Geneva in the Vaud region. Spanning approximately 800 hectares, these terraced vineyards offer stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains, making it a perfect destination for leisurely strolls and wine enthusiasts alike. The vineyards, which date back to the 11th century, are famous for producing high-quality wines, particularly the Chasselas variety.

You can easily explore this picturesque region by taking a stroll from either Cully or Epesses, two charming villages that serve as excellent starting points. The paths meander through the vineyards, allowing you to take in the beauty of the terraces while learning about local viticulture through informative signs along the way. As you walk, you’ll encounter small wine cellars where you can stop for tastings and enjoy the unique flavors of Lavaux wines.

The area is also dotted with quaint restaurants and cafés where you can savor local dishes paired with regional wines. The combination of stunning scenery and culinary delights makes this a memorable experience.

Seraina’s Tip: Be sure to bring your camera! The Lavaux Wine Terraces provide amazing photo opportunities, with picturesque views of the vineyards cascading down towards Lake Geneva.
