Nestled away in the Glens of the Antrim Coast near Garron Point , is the hidden gem, Galboly village. This village provides a glimpse into rural life in Northern Ireland during the mid 20th century. Here you can explore stone-walled buildings, walk along the perimeter, study beautiful old thatch cottages and take in the majestic views from the Garron Plateau.
This was once a thriving rural village where people lived of land and sea. At one point the village was home to over 60 inhabitants. The last person to live in the village was a monk who sadly passed away in 2013.
How to get there:
Park at the road side in the parking provided (it’s limited so get there early). You will find the hidden village just down from Fallow Vee Cottage Airbnb. Access through the gate and follow the winding path up the hill. Through the old farming village and you will find the Hidden Village of Galboly.
🎥 Galboly is a popular filming location. The village was used in Game of Thrones season 5 and 6 as Runestone in the Vale of Arryn. Check out the "wars to come" episode.
Top Travel Tip: You should stop at ‘Twilight Coffee’ in Carnlough for a hot drink and sweet treat after your visit to Galboly. It’s one of my favourite coffeehouses on this stretch of coastline. They also have a charming airbnb upstairs available to book. The airbnb offers beautiful views of Carnlough harbour.
