The St. Stefan Monastery is located in the town of Berovo, North Macedonia and stands as a testament to the region’s cultural history and faith. Established in 1815, it is one of the most well-preserved monasteries in the country. It's no wonder it's a traditional place to visit if you're in the area! The attractive monastery complex is known for its colorful wall frescoes and stunning views of the town. Inside, there are several artworks such as icons and carvings that represent Christ and Orthodoxy. The monastery hosts services on Sundays throughout the year. Visitors can join the monks and locals for spiritual gatherings and participate in a range of activities such as guided tours, candlelight processionals, and baptisms. There is also an interesting local legend about the cursed maize and how it originated within the walls of the St. Stefan Monastery. Whether you come out of curiosity, spirituality, or tradition, this picturesque monastery is an enjoyable experience.
