Tikvesh Lake is a popular destination for outdoor recreation and leisure activities in North Macedonia. Located 12 km southwest of Kavarci and 3 km south of the village of Vozarci, the lake comprises of 14 km2 of an area and a length of 29 km with a maximum accumulation of 265m above sea level. The Mediterranean, continental and mountain climates are all mixed together in the Tikvesh region. No matter the season there is plenty to discover here from various species of fish in the lake which make it an ideal spot for fishing to ornithological sites hosting 23 species of birds of prey making it an important place for bird lovers. There is also a range of cultural and historical monuments to explore such as Polog Monastery dedicated to St. Gjorgji with its rich architecture and decorated frescoes. Organized tours of the region are available where tourists can appreciate the wonders of Mother Nature while relaxing near the summery waters of Tikvesh Lake.
