Shojuan Temple in Iiyama is a historic gem, known as the lifelong home of Dokyo Etan, a revered teacher of Rinzai Buddhism. Originally established by the lord of Iiyama, the temple was named after a framed picture gifted to Dokyo. Despite being reconstructed after an earthquake, Shojuan remains an important cultural and spiritual destination, offering visitors a serene atmosphere and a connection to Japan’s rich history.
