10:30AM: Head to Anafiotika!

Learn why we call the area “the neighborhood of the Gods”

Anafiotika is a hidden gem in Athens, nestled at the north slope of the Acropolis. Dating back to the mid-19th century, its white-washed houses look nothing like the city's other neighborhoods and resemble the Cycladic island of Anafi, which its inhabitants left behind. Visitors can stroll along the car-free cobblestoned alleys, spot Byzantine churches, or admire stunning panoramic views of the Acropolis. This quaint neighborhood also features dozens of cats who love to receive treats from passersby! It is the perfect place for a leisurely afternoon stroll and taking Instagram-worthy shots.
