Mycenae is an incredible archaeological site located in the northern Peloponnese region of Greece, about 120 km south-west of Athens. This site dates as far back as the 2nd millennium BC and was once the major centre of Ancient Greek Civilization; from 1600-1100 BC.

It includes some impressive structures such as the Lion Gate and the walls of Tiryns, and provides visitors with a unique witness to the political, social and economic growth during that time. Mycenae and Tiryns are also strongly connected to the Homeric epics, including being home to some of the earliest written examples of the Greek language.

Today, both sites are protected by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports to ensure their preservation and integrity against any disturbance or damage. Visiting Mycenae allows us to marvel at its awe inspiring architecture, connect the heritage of the Ancient Greeks and admire the creative talents of the people of that civilisation.
