Castllo Sforzesco is the medieval fortification in the city of Milan, Italy. It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, upon the remnants of a 14th-century fortification. Later reconstructed and enlarged, it was one of the largest citadels in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, Castello Sforzesco houses several of the city's museums and art collections, as well as its Civic Museums, Burials, Ancient Art, Musical Instruments and Egyptian Museum collections. The castle hosts numerous historical exhibitions and events. Explore Milan's past with a visit to this impressive museum today!
If returning to Piazza del Duomo, you will have to cross Piazza Cordusio and walk along Via Dante to get to the Castello Sforzesco.
You can choose whether to visit one of the many museums hosted by the Castle or simply stroll outside to admire it in all its splendour.
If you want to catch your breath and enjoy a moment of relaxation and contact with nature, we suggest you take a stroll in Parco Sempione, which is located right in front of the Castle.
