Moderately demanding hike 1.6 km 1 hour, 30 minutes The trip goes one way, from A-B 114 meters in height in total Season: Mar - Oct

Mikaelshulen is an exciting hiking destination in Skien, Norway. It is accessible by boat or on foot, atop a steep path with steps and railings. The cave is semicircular 4-5 meters wide and about 20 meters deep. Its history dates back to the introduction of Catholicism in Norway, and until 1843, it was a refuge for people who continued to practice the religion after the Protestant Reformation. Nowadays, hikers will experience spectacular views over Norsjø from the steep mountain wall, as well as a unique peek into Norway's religious past.
