Hike

Message from Johan Haugsrud

Vindhellavegen is an exciting and challenging hike, located in Filefjell, Norway. Following the original King's Road from the 1790s, hikers can take in spectacular views of the terrain as they walk along steep and narrow mountain ledges. The journey takes around one hour and covers 1.7 km of moderate-difficulty trails. Along the way, admire the high foundation walls of a new horse-and-cart road built in the 1840s on what had previously been a very dangerous stretch. At the end of Vindhellavegen, visitors can choose to continue their round-trip by taking Sverrestigen, a route believed to have been used by King Sverre in 1177 to escape farmers waiting to attack him. Don't forget to write your name in the visitor book when reaching the top!
