Whenever I’m back home in Newfoundland, a visit to Chess’s Fish and Chips is a must. This beloved chain has been serving up some of the best fish and chips in the province, and it's easy to see why it's a local favorite.

At Chess's, the fish is always fresh, crispy, and perfectly cooked, accompanied by golden fries that are just the right kind of fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. But what truly sets Chess’s apart is their traditional Newfoundland dressing and gravy—a combination that elevates the humble fish and chips to something irresistibly comforting.

There's something about sitting down with a plate of Chess's fish and chips that feels like a warm welcome home. The atmosphere in each location is casual and friendly, making it a great spot to catch up with friends and family over a delicious meal.
