Gander is known for its history as a strategic post during World War II and its role in Operation Yellow Ribbon after the September 11 attacks. The town's airport, Gander International Airport, was a key refuelling stop for transatlantic flights and welcomed thousands of stranded passengers during the airspace closure. To learn more about this, visit the Gander Aviation museum.
