Discovered in 1995, the site has been an active excavation area revealing critical details about the early 17th century through numerous artifacts and structural remains.
The excavation efforts at Cupids Cove Plantation have so far uncovered four buildings dating back to the time of John Guy's arrival in 1610. These structures, along with over 170,000 artifacts unearthed, paint a vivid picture of the daily lives and struggles of these pioneering English settlers. Each artifact and building found helps historians and visitors alike understand the resilience and challenges faced by these early colonists who were among the first Europeans to lay the foundations of a permanent community in Canada.
