Fogo Island Inn is more than just a luxury hotel; it's a beacon of revitalization and sustainable development on Fogo Island. Opened in 2013, this 5-star establishment is the brainchild of Zita Cobb, a local who returned to her roots after decades of success elsewhere with a vision to transform the economic landscape of her home island.

The presence of Fogo Island Inn has significantly boosted local tourism, injecting much-needed vitality into the community's economy. As Al, a local historian, expressed, the inn provided "much-needed oxygen" to the area. It's a cornerstone of community and sustainability, with all operating surpluses reinvested into local projects. The inn even supports local craftsmanship by commissioning residents to create unique furniture for the rooms, which guests can purchase.

The architecture alone is a sight to behold—perched on stilt-like structures with the Atlantic Ocean as its backdrop, making it worth a visit even if just to admire from the outside.
