Chillon Castle is an iconic medieval castle located on the banks of Lake Geneva in Vaud, Switzerland. It has been continuously occupied since Roman times and passed through the hands of several ruling houses throughout history: House of Savoy, Bernese, and Vaudois. Chillon boasts a spectacular setting with views of its surrounding mountain peaks and tranquil waters - it's no wonder it is one of the most visited castles in all of Europe. The interior of the castle includes recreated interiors of grand halls, courtyards, and bedrooms as well as the original 15th century murals in the “The Camera domini” once inhabited by the Duke of Savoy. Many esteemed writers such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Mary Shelley and Lord Byron have been inspired by this breathtaking castle.
