Nothing prepares you for the sight when you reach Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe." It's an eye-popping 3,466 meters above sea level! And the panorama from up there is something out of a dream. It's the highest railway station in Europe, and trust me, it feels like it! You're looking out over a sea of snowy peaks, feeling on top of the world.

There's also this mind-blowing Ice Palace, literally a palace carved inside the glacier. Walking through those icy tunnels and chambers is like stepping into another universe.

Jungfraujoch- The JungFrau “Top Of Europe” is one of the most visited places in Switzerland. The Alps, Europe's highest mountain range created by glaciers over 2,5 million years ago, with views of the Aletsch Glacier. The only way to Jungfraujoch is by train.

**The Swiss Pass does not work to go to the top of the JungFrau, you will get a good discount having the Swiss Pass but you will still have to buy an additional ticket at the ticket office or ahead of time online. **

I would recommend buying the ticket from Interlaken to Grindelwald Terminal (this is the fast way via the Gondola) and then when you return I would select the Traditional Route Via the Railway (45 mins longer) but the train brings you through Wengen where you could stop and get out in Wengen and see this darling Swiss Village.

The full price for a round-trip ticket from Interlaken to Jungfrau and back is CHF 235. (both routes cost the same) With your Swiss Travel Pass you will pay Round-trip CHF 160.

*If you already know the day and time you want to go up the JungFrau, you can buy your tickets ahead of time or you can wait and see how the weather will be when you get closer to it and buy your tickets directly at the train station.

The best train to take is one of the first trains in the morning as hopefully it will not be as crowded, but depending on the time you go it may still be crowded and you may have to reserve a seat. If you don’t buy ahead of time then you can speak with the agent at the ticket office to help you decide if you want to book a seat. (10 chf a person, everytime I have gone up I have not booked a seat and always got one, but it really depends on how crowded the trains get.

Once you reach the top of the Jungfrau, you can explore the ice palace and look over the famous Aletsch Glacier and enjoy the panoramic views.

After you explore the “TOP of Europe” you can take the train down to Kleine Scheidegg for lunch. There are several dining options available at Kleine Scheidegg, including restaurants and cafes. All the restaurants/mountain huts serve typical Swiss Food and are usually first come, first serve.

*The weather conditions on the mountain can be unpredictable, I would recommend visiting the top of the Jungfrau when the weather is nice so you have views. You can monitor the weather while you are there and pick the best day to go to the top. The risk you have with waiting is the tickets may sell out on certain days, if crowded.
