Jökulsárlón is a breathtaking glacial lake in Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland. It developed when the glacier started to recede from the Atlantic Ocean in 1948, and now stands at an impressive 18 km2 with depths of 284 meters deep! In summer, icebergs melt and roll down the channel into the sea, while tourists flock to take boat tours on the glacier lake for an unforgettable experience. Not only is Jökulsárlón a stunning piece of nature, it has been featured in Hollywood films such as A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Batman Begins. The lake also serves as a habitat for Arctic skua birds, seals, trout, salmon, and other fish which gather at the mouth of the lake in large numbers. Visitors to the lake can expect a unique visual experience with milky white and bright blue icebergs naturally sculpted by volcanic ash. Jökulsárlón is an experience like no other - a must-see for any adventurous traveler.
