Fort William is a beautiful town in Scotland's Highlands. Located on the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe, Fort William is known for its hillwalking and climbing due to its proximity to mountains like Ben Nevis and Aonach Mòr. The town offers many other attractions including Glen Coe, the West Highland Way (a footpath between Fort William and Milngavie), and the Great Glen Way for biking, walking or running between Fort William and Inverness. The town also has a rich history, having been built as a base for the New Model Army in 1654 and having been part of the Jacobite Rising of 1745. There are 726 people who can still speak Gaelic here. All in all, Fort William is the perfect place for anyone looking to explore the Scottish Highlands.
