Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple in Kyoto is a hidden gem tucked away in the serene Arashiyama mountains. This quirky temple is home to over 1,200 statues of Buddha's disciples, each with their own unique expressions and poses. Visitors can wander through the peaceful grounds, admiring the smiling stone statues and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.

Slightly outside the regular Arashiyama visits, this temple is more than 1,200 moss-covered Rakan statues representing Buddha's disciples. It is just a a further 14 mins bus ride from the Bamboo forest and is a perfect spot to escape the crowds and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and art.

Entry fees : 400 Yen
