Small rainfed lagoon that reflects the surrounding tall trees

Waihora Lagoon is a beautiful spot to visit in the Waikato region. Set in the Pureroa Forest Park, with tall rimu and kahikatea trees surrounding the lagoon, you can take in this tranquil setting on a short 730m return track taking about 15 minutes. A boardwalk leads from the car park to a platform overlooking the ephemeral wetland. Remember to bring good shoes as the gravel road to the carpark is best accessed with 4wd vehicles. Enjoy the rewarding views after a short stroll to reach this peaceful spot at Waihora Lagoon.
