Castel Sant'Elmo is a stunning medieval fortress situated atop Vomero Hill in Naples, Italy. This historic site has been around since the 10th century and was originally known as Belforte, an Angevin royal palace. The Hexagonal star shape the Castel is well-known for was designed by Pedro Luis Escriva and constructed between 1537 and 1547. It is known to have withstood wars, earthquakes and rebellions throughout the years and now serves as a museum, exhibition hall and office space. It is still in use today and offers a fascinating insight into the city's history, with its impressive structure that gives an unbeatable view of Naples.
