The first time I visited this area I almost cried because it's so gorgeous. It literally looks like a painting. At first, my brain and eyes couldn't believe that a place like this is real! Once I got over that, I enjoyed taking photos, drone shots, and playing with the reflection that the mirror effect of the (sometimes) still, shallow water makes of Vestrahorn Mountain.
The Stokksnes peninsula in Iceland is a lovely area that is only a 20-minute drive from the town of Höfn. Iceland’s ring road, Route 1, will take you close to Vestrahorn, then you’ll need to turn onto a gravel road. You will see signs for Stokksnes and then you turn off to drive on a gravel road that leads to the Viking Café.
At the Viking Cafe, you can pay the entrance fee to access the area even if the Cafe is closed. There is a machine that scans your ticket and lifts up the toll stick to let you onto the road. It's on private land, and since the area has become popular in recent years a small fee is now charged to use the access road.
To get to the specific spot where you might see the reflection of Vestrahorn mountain, you need to drive a little down the road. You can pull over and walk onto the beach area. If the wind is still enough, you will be able to experience the mirror effect seen in my photo and video for this place.
